Introducing Pimento

We’re excited to introduce Pimento, a new kind of Warehouse Management System built for brands and 3PLs.

My co-founder, Ben, and I spent over four years building our own 3PL business. Despite the myriad of tools available to help us manage our warehouse operations, we quickly realised we needed a system tailored to our vision: one that enables profitable growth while creating exceptional experiences for our customers and their customers. So, we built our own and we are now offering this to the world.

While eCommerce and enablement tools have progressed significantly, the core of the supply chain—WMS—still needs to catch up. The current WMS market is dominated by incumbents that are not designed for the flexibility, customer demands, or user experiences expected by modern brands, 3PLs, and their customers.

The choices for a brand or 3PL typically include:

  1. Incumbent WMS Players: Established solutions that dominate the market due to a lack of better alternatives. These often fail to deliver the flexibility and responsiveness required by modern brands and 3PLs.
  2. Bespoke Solutions: Custom-built systems tailored to specific operational needs. While effective, they require substantial investment in time and resources, leading to burdensome ongoing maintenance.
  3. Shipping Software: Standalone software that focuses solely on generating shipping labels from channels like Shopify or WooCommerce, lacking comprehensive warehouse management features. These solutions suit only the smallest operations.
  4. No Software at All: Surprisingly, many warehouses still operate without software, relying on manual processes, spreadsheets, and paper. This approach leads to inefficiencies, errors, and significant challenges when scaling operations.

Each option creates friction for businesses striving to build efficient eCommerce operations that respond in real time to customer needs. After engaging with hundreds of leaders in eCommerce logistics and observing their challenges firsthand, we identified common struggles: implementing workflow automation, managing billing, handling returns, and maintaining visibility into order operations—most importantly, delivering exceptional experiences to everyone involved in the supply chain, from warehouse operatives to the end recipients of parcels.

eCommerce is evolving, and only those who adapt will thrive. Today, we see a rapid trend towards consumers expecting Amazon-like experiences, and brands and 3PLs need the tools to meet these now-standard expectations.

Pimento empowers modern brands and 3PLs to build profitable operations while delivering outstanding experiences to online shoppers. Our software considers all stakeholders in the chain, from warehouse operatives and brands to accounts, supply chain managers, senior management, and, crucially, the online shopper.

More specifically, Pimento provides eCommerce logistics operators with a clear, visual workflow for managing their warehouses and tools to ensure end-customers enjoy delightful shopping experiences, transforming any issues into positive outcomes.

We’re eager to support companies with intelligent software crafted by 3PL operators for 3PL operators and brands. Our vision is to enable these businesses to run profitable operations while delivering exceptional experiences to online shoppers.

We’ve assembled a passionate team of builders from companies like Packfleet, Lloyds Direct, and Shiptheory, and we can’t wait for you to see what we have in store.
